What is QuickRecord 3?

QuickRecord 2 Screenshot

QuickRecord 3 is a compact application for recording and playing sound on a Microsoft Windows PC. It works on Windows 95, 98, Me, NT4, 2000, and XP.

Recording and playing back directly to and from disk files, QuickRecord 3 maintains the simplicity of the standard Windows Sound Recorder applet but without the restrictions.

QuickRecord 3 is ideally suited to personal recording and playback of speech and music, and business applications including live music, conferences, meetings and call centres.

QuickRecord 3 is based on the MSSR300 ActiveX control, which can be incorporated into any application requiring the incorporation of similar sound recording or playback facilities.

Features

The following is a summary of the main features of QuickRecord. For more detailed information, take a look at the online help pages.

bulletRecording directly to disk means that recordings are limited only by available disk space.
bulletDirect recording of WAV files (in compressed and uncompressed formats up to 192000 samples/second) and MP3 files.
bulletThe QuickRecord taskbar icon allows one-click recording or playback to be easily set up.
bulletVoice-activated recording (VOX) eliminates periods of silence in recordings
bulletCommand line control allows unattended recording and/or playback using the Windows Scheduler. Maximum recording time can be limited if desired.
bulletOptional tones can be added at the beginning and/or end of recording to facilitate use of QuickRecord as an audio 'notebook'.
bulletFor systems with multiple soundcards, the soundcard to be used for recording and/or playback can be specified.

Downloading the 30-day evaluation

QuickRecord 3 and MSSR300 are released as 30-day evaluation versions for you to download and try. Once you've tried them, if you want to keep using them after the 30-day evaluation period you will have to buy a licence (see below).

If you want to record and play MP3 files, you will need an MP3 Codec. There are several available, but we suggest the FHG-Radium Codec, which is free for personal use.
